Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is protecting their filmed entertainment content that is streamed via the Internet to its various trade business partners in advance of DVD availability. The Studio is using MediaEscort’s on-demand watermarking system to automatically and seamlessly embed SmartMarks™, imperceptible forensic information in every frame of video content, during Internet delivery to protect against piracy.  The Studio selected MediaEscort for online delivery of streaming media content for review by retail buyers, distributors and others that sell DVDs to the general public.  The move provides the Studio’s trade partners with the convenience of being able to view its product simply on their office computer.

“Professional pirates constantly prowl the Internet for streaming entertainment content that they might possibly hijack,” stated Heather Field, Executive Director of Digital Marketing IT at TCFHE.  “In using MediaEscort we can provide advance access to our content, conveniently and in a traceable manner.”

FilmMates Entertainment is protecting its entire film library against piracy using SmartMark (TM) anti-piracy technology from USVO. The library will be SmartMarked at Lightning Media's post-production facility in Hollywood. Lightning Media is a Certified SmartMark Anti-Piracy Provider using USVO's MediaSentinel™ to SmartMark digital video and protect its clients' properties from piracy.

"Producers, filmmakers and especially distributors need to take an active role in fighting piracy. I believe SmartMark technology can help in preventing theft," said Jay Malla, Senior Vice President of Distribution and Business Strategy, FilmMates Entertainment. "Now our investors can rest assured that the latest technology will help in protecting their investment as their films are distributed into new markets worldwide."

DIC Entertainment, a leading children's media company, has SmartMarked its fulllength animated television special INSPECTOR GADGET'S BIGGEST CAPER EVER: THE CASE OF THE FLYING LIZARD. The SmartMarked film premiered at the Cartoons on the Bay 2005 International Festival of Television Animation in Positano, Italy earlier this year.

"SmartMarking our production gave us confidence in sending our master to a distant screening location. The process was the same as striking a dub, with no delay in our distribution schedule, and effortless to order and execute," said Mike Maliani, Chief Creative Officer of DIC Entertainment. "SmartMarking our production protects our property, simply and easily, at a very low cost relative to the impacts of piracy on our industry. SmartMarking a production is smart business."

Doordarshan, the national television service of India, is devoted to public service broadcasting. It is one of the largest terrestrial networks in the world. Its network of more than 1400 terrestrial transmitters covers more than 89.6% of India's population. The company utilized USVO’s MediaSentinel™ to SmartMark their digital video and protect it from piracy.

"According to K.S. Sarma, CEO of Prasar Bharati, parent company to Doordarshan, MediaSentinel’s digital watermarking technology will provide Indian and international law enforcement officials an effective means of tracing and catching pirates. “Prasar Bharati’s initiative to watermark media broadcast on Doordarshan should stimulate a wave of interest, not only across China and the rest of Asia, where piracy is believed to cause billions of dollars of losses, but also in the US, which suffers many of those losses,” Sarma said. “We are pleased to have this trial period underway to demonstrate the value of this technology to media producers everywhere."

These are just a few of the companies currently using SmartMarks to protect their investment in world-class video content.
