USA VIDEO INTERACTIVE STARTS DIGITIZING VIDEO LIBRARIES
Wednesday, 17 March 1999
MAKES SPECIAL PRESENTATION AT FLORIDA CONFERENCE

MYSTIC, CONNECTICUT—USA Video Interactive has created a new division to digitize existing videotapes, either single videos or entire video libraries, so they can be placed on computer servers or CD-ROMs for access on Internet or Intranet systems. USA Video Interactive has begun digitizing a library of 14,000 videos and is in active negotiation with a number of companies that own the rights to much of the most popular educational video content available worldwide. Details of these negotiations will be announced shortly.

USA Video Interactive digitizes videos using any compression technique desired by the customer: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 or the new USA Video Interactive Wavelet Technology. The USA Video Interactive Wavelet Technology is strongly preferred because it allows very high levels of compression (up to 1000:1) while retaining much higher resolution than methods used by competitors such as Real Networks, Broadcast.com and others. This allows far more material to be stored on a server or CD-ROM at a significantly lower cost.

Edwin Molina, President of USA Video Interactive, has been asked to make a special, previously unscheduled address to describe his company’s Wavelet Technology and encoding services at the Florida Educational Technology Conference being held this week in Orlando, Florida. This conference is one of the largest dedicated to educational technology in the United States. Last year, more than 13,000 people and 3,000 vendors attended. Corporate sponsors include Apple Computer, AT&T Learning Network, Compaq Computer, Computer Curriculum Corporation, Dell Computer, Knowledge Adventure, The Learning Company and Microsoft.

Video-On-Demand™ and Video Yellow PagesTM are trademarks of USA Video.
