USA VIDEO INTERACTIVE AND AGC/UNITED LEARNING PARTNER ON PROVIDING DIGITAL CONTENT TO SCHOOLS
Wednesday, 14 April 1999
MYSTIC, CT. - USA Video Interactive and AGC/United Learning Educational Media have agreed to partner to determine the best way to provide digitized educational content to schools, colleges and other customers worldwide.

"This is a whole new market that's growing exponentially,'' said Johnjoe Farragher, national sales manager for AGC/United Learning. "We're joining with USA Video Interactive at this juncture because they have a proven video-on-demand(TM) technology with a wide variety of applications for education.''

"As one of the world's largest distributors of educational content, AGC has some of the best content available,'' said Edwin Molina, president of USA Video Interactive. "With their 45 years of experience in educational content, starting with 16-millimeter films, then video and now digital, AGC is a 'natural' for this partnering.''

AGC's most popular series, the five-hour "Simply Science Series,'' will be installed on the USA Video Interactive server at LEARN, which provides technology and other services in Connecticut to 24 school districts, 120 schools and more than 49,000 students. There are similar organizations in most other states and some 550 Regional Education Service Centers throughout the United States.

AGC has a catalog of some 3,000 educational videos and plans to have about a third of these digitally encoded by year-end. "The demand for digitized content is growing day by day,'' said Farragher. "This agreement with USA Video Interactive will let us jointly determine how best to serve the educational market in meeting this demand. This pilot program should set the stage for how digitized educational content is produced and supplied to schools for years to come.''
