USA Video Interactive Expands LA Music Awards Broadcast Schedule to Meet Anticipated Demand; Upgrades Its VoD and Compression Technology; Unveils New Web Page
Wednesday, 24 November 1999
MYSTIC, CONNECTICUT, November 24, 1999 - Citing the unprecedented demand anticipated for viewing the broadcast of the 9th Annual L. A. Music Awards (www.lamusicawards.com), LAMA founder Al Bowman has requested that USA Video Interactive (NASD: USVO; ASE: US; www.usvo.com ) expand their broadcast schedule of the event to include several showings on Thanksgiving Day, November 25. "Our LAMA site has exploded in recent days with hundreds of thousands of hits and we´re getting worldwide interest in the event," said Bowman. "I´d expect the webcast will get similar interest - hundreds of thousands of hits. This gives a tremendous boost to our mission of bringing recognition to some of the best unsigned musicians in the world today."

In addition to the previously scheduled broadcast at 7 PM EST (4PM PST), the show will be broadcast every hour starting at 11 AM EST (8 AM PST) with the last airing at 10 PM EST (7 PM PST). It can be accessed from the websites of House of Blues (www.hob.com), L. A. Music Awards (www.lamusicawards.com) and USA Video Interactive (www.usvo.com). The awards show has been edited to approximately one hour and is suitable for family viewing.

USA Video Interactive also announced that it has upgraded its Video-on-Demand and Wavelet compression technologies to produce even better quality video and audio via the Internet. The upgrade is compatible with Microsoft Windows Media Player and now works on both MMX and non-MMX PCs. The new technology will be demonstrated during the webcast of the L. A. Music Awards on Thanksgiving. "These upgrades significantly improve the ease and experience of watching streaming video on the Internet," said Edwin Molina, President of USA Video Interactive. "They open the door even wider to virtually everyone who wants to experience the highest quality video on the Internet today."

NOTE: If you have installed the old version of the USA Video Interactive Wavelet decoder, it must be uninstalled before adding the new version. To do this, go to Settings/Control Panel; select Add/Remove Programs; select USA Video Interactive Wavelet; click on Add/Remove; click Yes. Then install the new driver for USA Video Interactive Wavelet from the www.usvo.com website.

USA Video Interactive also will unveil its new website for the Awards broadcast. The new site reflects comments and suggestions received from visitors to a recently introduced "beta" site and includes extensive technical information about the USA Video Interactive Video-on-Demand and Wavelet technologies; full financial information including quarterly financial reports; press releases; media coverage; and demonstrations of the USA Video Interactive technologies.
