USA Video Interactive Invited to Address U.S. Department of Education "Digital Divide" Conference
Thursday, 21 September 2000
MYSTIC, Connecticut, September 21, 2000 - USA Video Interactive Corp. (OTC BB: USVO; CDNX: US; www.usvo.com) has been invited by the U. S. Department of Education to address its "Digital Divide Conference" sponsored by the USDOE, Region I. Julia Launer, Director of Education Technology for USA Video Interactive, will discuss the company's technology, its advanced satellite-to-Internet delivery, and its potential for bridging this divide to bring the highest quality education technology and the latest in audiovisual learning materials to schools throughout the country and world. Some 300 educators from throughout New England are expected to attend the conference, being held at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Resource Center in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on September 22, 2000.

"Our intent is to change the inequities of 'digital divide' into the potential of 'digital opportunity' where all students everywhere have access to the same quality of content, regardless of the school or school system they are in, regardless of whether it is a prosperous or an underserved area," said Launer. "Our technology and the many benefits of Internet-delivered video and video on demand make this possible, bringing all the advantages of distance learning into a student's classroom or home."

The Department of Education extended invitations to all school superintendents in New England, noting that the goal of the conference is "to bridge the gap between those schools already involved in advanced technology and those who have not yet been exposed to its possibilities." The invitation notes that the conference will feature "dynamic and knowledgeable speakers and… corporations specializing in advanced technology."

USA Video Interactive has long focused on education as a key area for supplying its services and expertise. The company recently announced the installation of a system in the Washington, D.C. public schools; has an alliance with the SchoolFirst Foundation with installations in Boston, New York, Chicago and Miami; has an installation and active projects with the regional education resource center called Project LEARN, the State of Connecticut and Teikyo Post University; and has other educational initiatives and deployments under way or pending.
